London City Guide

The nation’s capital is one of the top stag do locations in the UK for obvious reasons but we’ll fill you in on some great places to go and interesting things to do during your stag do weekend.

During the Day

If its football season when you come to London for your stag do then why not go along to a game? There are many clubs based in London from Chelsea and Arsenal to Crystal Palace and Millwall so there is sure to be a game on somewhere. If on the other hand the football season is over then you can always visit the club museums, trophy rooms and a stadium tour, notably at Chelsea and Arsenal. Alternatively, if football isn’t your sport then Twickenham rugby ground, Wimbledon stadium and Lords cricket ground are available for tours.

If you’re not the sporty type then take a trip to Covent Garden to experience some of the finest street performers in the world as well as some of London’s best shops, bars and restaurants. Covent Garden boasts some of the world’s best street performers which you can enjoy from street level or atop one of the great balcony bars and restaurants.

A short tube ride or scenic walk will take you to Camden Town which offers so much in terms of shopping, bars and restaurants. A particular highlight is the Craft Beer Company which offers a fantastic variety of beers, wines and spirits. The beer selection is especially comprehensive with a choice of cask, keg and bottled beer.

Eating Out

Migrating around London town can really build up an appetite so the place to head for an incredible selection of curry houses is Brick Lane in Shoreditch. Each curry house will be vying for your business, all trying to persuade you to eat in their restaurant, so make sure you’re open to curry house salesmen.

If you are not in the mood for curry then a popular restaurant to visit while in London is Gordan Ramsey’s Petrus in Knightsbridge. The famous chef has a few restaurants dotted about London but Petrus is the pick of the bunch. London has countless restaurants offering a diverse selection of cuisines so you will never be stuck for choice when it comes to food in the capital.

Nightlife

So you haven’t come to London on your stag do to see the sights, you’ve come to see the extravagant night-life London has to offer and boy it does not disappoint.

No stag do would be complete without visiting a gentleman’s club and London will not disappoint on this front. The world famous Stringfellows should be top of the list when going to a strip club. There are two venues to choose from, one in Covent Garden and one in Soho. Spearmint Rhino is a well known chain of gentleman’s club and London has one of its own. Located on Tottenham Court Road in the West End, it is definitely worth a visit. Other notable gentleman’s clubs include Sophisticats in Marylebone, Windmill International in Soho, Platinum in Shoreditch and Club Oops in Aldgate.

Las Vagas is a popular stag do destination but why go so far when you can visit the Casino at the Empire? Located in Leicester Square, the casino features everything a real Vegas casino would with bars, restaurants and a multitude of gaming options.

One of the biggest and most famous clubs in the world has its home in London: Fabric. Attracting the world’s finest DJs, Fabric is a must for any stag do. The Ministry of Sound is another world famous club in London which is home to some of the best resident DJs and big name DJs around today.

An aspect of London which is not so well known is the abundance of speak-easy like bars dotted around the city. They aim to recreate the atmosphere of prohibition struck America with authentic décor and enthusiastic barmen who dress the part. Many are well hidden, down side streets, in between shops or down secret staircases, for that extra sense of authenticity. Lounge Bohemia (hidden between a kebab shop and a newsagent), Callooh Callay (a Narnia style wardrobe is the entrance) and the Fox and Cutlass (detective agency and taxidermist by day, speaky easy bar by night) are but a few of the highlights in London’s alternative, underground nightlife

A great way to get in the mood for the night ahead is by going to one of the many comedy clubs around the city. The Comedy Store in Piccadilly Circus, the 99 Club in Leicester Square and Comedy Carnival also inLeicester Square are a few of the highlights to check out.

London has always been at the for front of the music scene so there are sure to be live acts to check out while you’re in London. Venues such as the Barfly, Ronnie Scotts, the Roundhouse, O2 Brixton Academy and the 100 Club are the hot live music venues in London today.
