Manchester City Guide
The busy metropole of Manchester is great for a city getaway – it’s long been the spiritual home of British rock, and this is reflected today in the city’s many live music bars and clubs. Some of the big bands to come out of Manchester include Oasis, The Smiths, The Stone Roses and the Buzzcocks. With so much to offer, Manchester is the perfect spot for a lads weekend.
Shopping
Whether you fancy buying a new gadget, or need to stock up on supplies for the big weekend, the Trafford Centre is the place to be. This huge shopping mall is in the centre of Manchester and has everything you might need – over 200 shops, cafes and bars, it even has a hotel on site! The Trafford Quays Leisure Village is a great place to experience something out of the ordinary, what with the Airkix centre – where you can try skydiving – and the Chill Factore – a real snow centre- there is no reason for you to seek thrills elsewhere! These really are great for hens that are looking for an exciting and adrenaline fuelled activity!
Theatre
If you’re after something a little more relaxing that the traditional night out, why not check out the Royal Exchange Theatre. This is one of the busiest theatres in the city, and regularly holds west end shows. With both matinee and evening shows, the Royal Exchange is one of Manchester’s highlights that you must check out on your stag weekend.
Adventure & Adrenaline
Manchester is the home of the Aerial Extreme centre – here you can make your way through the tree-top adventure course which has more than 30 obstacles of overcome. This is a great team-building exercise, and is a fantastic start to your stag celebrations.
Eating Out
Manchester has more than 500 restaurants, so there’s plenty of choice – some of the top rated places are – The Rice Bowl, a chinese restaurant on Cross street; this restaurant is a favourite of locals – known for its fast service and sensible prices. Bistro West 156 is another favourite, located in West Didsbury this european-style restaurant boasts excellent value and great quality food. They also accept bookings for large groups, so it’s great for any stag party. In the heart of the city centre, Sapporo Teppanyaki is a traditional teppanyaki restaurant – you’ll sit around the cooking area and watch while your waiter prepares your meal with fun and flare.
Nightlife
Manchester has long been known as the home of britpop, and is the perfect destination for everyone who loves music. Manchester’s main pop music venue is the Manchester Evening News Arena, which hosts many concerts and live events every year, it was even voted the world’s busiest arena from 2001 to 2007. The Comedy Store also comes as a highly rated night spot in Manchester. There are dinner and comedy deals on offer, with a variety of different comedians playing every week. If you’re looking for something a little more chilled out, one of the city’s masses of bars and nightclubs should have what you’re looking for – TripAdvisor has a list of 50 or so that should get you started.
